    Story Behind the Song
I co-wrote the song with The Lamun Brothers for their "In Lamun Terms" album produced by Buddy Hiatt. However,as great a talent as Buddy Hiatt is, I felt he missed the original joy I felt in the song. My version is closer to what it felt like when we first wrote it. You'll have to use your imagination for the banjo, steel top guitar, & dobro though. I cut it with my trusted Fender bass, Martin acoustic and a cup of Mudd House coffee. I have to confess and pay tribute to the talented songwriter Shawn Colvin for the line--"A couple in love living week to week." I know I heard it in one of her songs & slipped it in the second half of the chorus. OK I feel better now.

    Lyrics
    Day Breaks on another morning
The sun is dancing on the distant hills
Across this land is a peaceful feeling
When my heart is still I hear this sound

Take your time there's no need to hurry
    Cuz every precious moment counts
In my heart I can hear you calling
This love could never be held apart Any longer.
    (Chorus)
"Down By The River" where the cat tails are
Pickin' a tune on this old guitar
Under the stars, a flat bed truck and you OH
Down by the river where the water runs deep
A couple in love living week to week
But all that matters is right here in my arms
(2nd X--All my dreams are written on your heart)

A simple dreram of a country life
Just work the land and then love my wife
Looking out as the sun goes westward
won't you lay down here by my side

    (Chorus 2)

You are all I ever wanted with the moon and the stars above
Across this land there's a peaceful feeling
When My heart is still I haer this sound

    (chorus)
