Story Behind the Song
Guzik wrote this foundation for this song and brought it to us at his 'audition,' where the band polished it and made it into our own. We hope that our songwriting can shine through the numerous mistakes we made when we were recording. Guzik was sick and a little pitchy, and so the compression on his voice (used to control its highs and lows) makes him sound a good deal more live than the band, and the rest of us made our fair share of mistakes on this one. Listen with a grain of salt and come to see us live sometime!
Lyrics
It's always the same, I've seen your kind before -
If things don't go your way, you back out and close the door.
You're ruled by fear, and it paves a path for you.
It's easy to see 'cause every time you get the chance to...
You run away.
When I say 'stay,' won't you?
You're passively motivated, you're apathy most unkind.
Your reticence leaves me jaded, you're wasting precious time.
The sun is setting fast and time is running out.
As we get closer to the end, you're turned about by doubt.
You run away.
And I say 'stay' - won't you?
You run away.
I say 'stay' - won't you?
The ship has run its course...
It's reached its final port.
And as the anchor falls, decisions will be made:
Will you stay, will you ...?
You run away.
And I say 'stay' - won't you?
You Run Away.
When I say 'stay,' won't you?
...
