	Story Behind the Song It was written to describe the feelings of the writer to juggle things like friends, job, money, and career to spend time with his wife. The verses describe how he deals with the problems, and the chorus shows his sincerity to work on the relationship. The bridge describes his quandry. The song was written at Les's home. The lyrics were written first in a moment of inspiration, and then edited for song structure. Chords and melody were added. The recording took the better part of a day. First laying down the drum, bass, piano, and strings tracks, and then adding the vocal tracks to the mix. The instruments took one take, and the vocals took several takes. It was recorded on a sequencer & 4-track portastudio, and later compiled with other songs to make the CD, "Shades of Blue." Lyrics VERSE 1 I put my friends on hold to make a little time for me and you. I spend my time making time cause I'm for you. I put my job on hold to take you on a little minivacation. I'm making time for a little sunshine, it's my reputation. CHORUS I know these things won't go away. But I'd be with you if I had my way. There's a time for this and a time for that. So I'm making time for you today. Hey. VERSE 2 I put the bills on hold to spend a little money for me and you. I'm spending money making money, it's all for you. I put my career on hold to make a life for me and you. I'm making time for a little life cause I'm for you. BRIDGE I just keep on making time. I just keep on making rhymes. I just keep on drinking wine. I don't know just what I'll find. I know that you'll be mine. CHORUS I know these things won't go away. But I'd be with you if I had my way.
