Story Behind the Song
There is not really any one break-up that has inspired the song, it is about breaking-up in general. However, it is not meant to be a sulky song about the end of a relationship, but rather a song about a fresh start after the break-up.
Lyrics
Through With You
by Derek Dockter and Colin Meusel
Solo, so low I would sink.
Then back again, your waves pull me in.
Choked up and dripping with your scent
Defeated, completed in the time we spent.
Drowning in this pool of fears.
Held mistaken for so many years.
That the sleeper tide could come so near.
Now I choose to float away from here.
I will swim again.
I will paddle in.
Cruise past the breakers towards the shore and then.
I will cast up these sails of this heart for sale.
I am through with you.
I am through with you.
On shore, so sure, now I stand.
Feet planted firmly in this sand.
Fresh air and no cares to fill my breath.
No currents to cause me to go adrift….when I’m
Standing in this breeze so clear.
I was mistaken for so many years.
The sleeper tide had come so near.
Then I chose to return to here.
But I will swim again.
I won’t paddle in.
Cruise past the breakers towards the sea and then.
I will cast up these sails of this heart for sale.
I am through with you.
I am through with you.
