Story Behind the Song
The terrorist bombings in Israel by kids, girls and boys around late 2001 and early 2002, stirred something inside me. What came out was new lyrics to an existing tune. I've heard the pro & con for the kind of agenda this killing does, but these are kids!
I'm not pushing a political agenda, or taking either side, just stating the horror of kids killing kids...which I wish wasn't happening.
The song was written in less than 2 hours, with the most amount of time being spent tring to keep the disjointed nature of the original lyrics (So be fore-warned)
As for recording, that was done on a home computer with a SM58 variant mike & a Korg Triton Pro. Yes, I know that mike is not ideal, but it's all I have. It took about a week of after work effort to get the background track the way you hear it. Then it took less than 6 hours to get it multi-tracked into Cakewalk's Sonar. Each verse & chorus were full takes, and sometimes redone 3 times, as I sometimes found myself mumbling the words, hunched over the keyboard.
Someday, I would love for this to be recorded correctly, even a better mike would have helped.
I really don't need money for this song, I'd rather have peace.
Lyrics
Sometimes you're in the wrong place
There's switch in your hand
and it's wired to your waist
You think you're mad, too unstable
Blowing o'er chairs and knocking down tables
In a market in a West Bank town
Call the police, there's a madman around
Running down underground for some shelter
In a West Bank town
In a West Bank town,
where terror falls
The A-rab boys and Is-rael girls
In a West Bank town,
the reaper calls
The Is-rael boys and A-rab girls
A-rab girls
Too many candles, whimpering voices
Faces on posters,
the funeral choices
If, when, why, what?
How much have you lost?
How many killed? dollars times dead, now i'll write the check
maybe more next time, boys and girls 'you bet!'
(- it's peace we need!)
In a West Bank town,
we get no oil
from A-rab boys and Is-rael girls
In a West Bank town,
where conflict broils
The Is-rael boys and A-rab girls
A-rab girls
A-rab girls
(music bridge)
(- it's peace we need!)
In a West Bank town,
where lies are real
with A-rab boys and Is-rael girls
Oooh West Bank town,
where lies can't heal
Is-rael boys and A-rab Girls
A-rab girls
You've got a gun of metal
or a rock and stone
Just you wait 'till I bomb your home
We've got no future, we've lost our past
kill today, you can't last
In every city, in every nation
From UN council to the 'Trade center' location
(All eyes watch this land)
In a West Bank town,
where terror steals
The A-rab boys and Is-rael girls
A West Bank town,
where terror claims
Is-rael Boys, A-rab girls
A-rab girls
Is-rael boys
A-rab girls
(terror lies to all men)
