Story Behind the Song
This song was Written for my mother, while she suffered a nervous breakdown,it was one of many I've seen her go through from a young age,she was sexually abused from a young age by her friends father, she's spent the last 40 'odd years feeling guilty for things she had no control over, smile is a direct result of learning this information & my way of dedicating a song to all who may of suffered similar horrors, written @ home, music was one take, vocals a couple more
,from what I've told u above the lyrics in the verse speak of the way I felt while I visited her in hospital & the chorus feels like the only solution is to smile, think this one was written in 2 days,Check out the guitar solo @ the end by Andy(Mcbeef)McQueen,I was just happy he put it on one of my songs:-)
Lyrics
I don't mind if you think you need some time out to unwind
I don't care if there's thoughts inside your head you'd like to share
Tell me do,all those things are bugging you
Won't you please, let me put your mind right back at ease
There's a little girl in there trying hard to smile
I can see a mothers face living in denial
CHORUS
Smile please smile just smile
you know ain't so bad now
Smile please smile just smile
Although the storys so sad
smile please smile just smile
Although it makes me so mad
Smile & in time you'll learn to read between the lines
Verse 2
Understand all the things your holding in your hand
I don't mind you know that I could never ever
mind
In denial the lengths that I would go to for a smile
Won't you please, let me put your mind right back at ease
There's a little girl in there trying hard to smile
I can see a mothers face living in denial
CHORUS
INSTRUMENTAL
