Story Behind the Song
Well the result we have here is so radically different from the originally presented song that except for the chorus, there is no remaining resemblance. The original version kind of bounced along inside a bubblegum wrapper. The story behind the lyrics is that I, for awhile, had become addicted to "La Femme Nakita.....The Series". This is was great syndicated program that unfortunately ended just a few short month's after I had discovered it. My highest praise to the writers and creators of this show and though I don't remember a single name from the cast the blond was "WOW", the gal who played the second in command "the torturess" was also wonderfully scary. Unfortunately the show was on only late at night in my area so I missed alot of sleep but at least got the lyrics for a song from it.
Lyrics
Early this mornin' the reports came in
We’ve got our backs against the wall
The word is out the fix is in
And now we’re headed for a fall
We're gonna need to make a strong response
Ain't here to take one on the chin
Our position has been compromised
but the fight is ours to win,
so let the games begin
We've infiltrated their defences
We've put an operative inside
We want to lead them where they'd like to go
And then take them for a ride
So far they've gone for our deceptions
We've got them runnin' through the mill
It's a game of hit and misdirection
and we're in it for the thrill,
and then we go in for the kill
hey, hey, hey, hey, we've got to make our play
hey, hey, hey, hey, it's the rebel way
And when you feel the sting of the grand deception, let it grow
You know we're gonna need a little insurrection,
it's the only way to go
Our play is entering it's final act
We've practiced entrances and lines
The players run to take the stage
And dance upon the pine
Our eyes are open for the double take
'cause there is nothing cut and dried
The script is done there's no re-write pending
So put your fears aside
Are you ready for the ride
hey, hey, hey, hey, we've got to make our play
hey, hey, hey, hey, it's the rebel way
And when you fell the string of the grand deception, let it grow
You know we're gonna need a little insurrection, it's the only way to go
