A brilliant description of the days of early youth and the only thing that mattered then...cartoons.

    Story Behind the Song
I was watching cartoons and trying to find a melody to a riff I had been working on and there it was, right in front of me. The song was written over two weeks but finally recorded in one take. The piano and electric guitar were added later.

    Lyrics
When I was a little boy
    watchin' my cartoons
    Considered never
    problems ever
    watching' my cartoons

Where did me as a child go?
    I wish I knew
    I suppose he's still around
    somewhere dancing nude

    And only knows
    that life is so
    messy

When I was a little squirt
    between naps and eating dirt
never considered the birds or bees
    only my cartoons
When I was a little dear
still forcing things in my ear
    several animal lives were saved
    by my cartoons

I miss running in those shoes
    every spank on my caboose
    even every chore I'd do
just to watch the next cartoon
    Don't regret a recess missed
    to avoid the slightest kiss
I knew deadly germs were found
where there was a girl around

When I was a little guy
    fast asleep well before nine
dreamt of being super and, of course,
    my cartoons

Where did me as a child go?
    I wish I knew
    I suppose he's still around
    Somewhere around here somewhere

When I was a little man
rode my bike because I could
never saw a soul outside before
    my cartoons

    And animation kept my head
    dreamin'

I miss running in those shoes
    all the physical abuse
    every careless escapade
repaid by cuts and by scrapes
