20 minute experimental jam session, based around the phrase, "When I see you, I burst into flames." Runs the gamut emotionally from heavenly, ethereal ambiance to dark, industrial noise. Interesting interplay of male and female vocals, many times run through a loop pedal to create multiple voices and melodies. This file is composed of what could be a number of shorter songs, laid out in an album form. |
Credits: Alan Wilkes: vocals, tapes, noise | Anji Bee: vocals, tapes, noise | Justin Johnsen: keyboard, loop pedal | Sal Orona: bass | Eel Eye: guitar |
Story Behind the Song
Ain Soph Aur was a collective of musicians who regularly got together for jam sessions. They often recorded these jams directly to 4 track cassette. This was the best such session. It has been somewhat modified in the mix down process, with fades and a few volume fixes, but no overdubs were added.
Part of Ain Soph Aur's goal was to produce trance inducing music, with Western High Magikal influences. Many attendees to their live performances attested to the success of this endeavor, claiming that they had fallen into a trance.
Video of a live performance at the popular Industrial club, Das Bunker, became a regular part of their video rotation at the club for months.
Ain Soph Aur eventually disbanded after a year of jam sessions.
Lyrics
All lyrics more or less ad-libbed, based around Anji's original concept line, "When I see you, I burst into flames."
