Story Behind the Song
My friend Kimi had a funny dream one night that she was Bruce Willis. Not long afterwards, she had another, and then another. Thinking this was really funny, I decided I'd write a song about her actually beliving she's Bruce Willis. To my surprise, everyone ended up loving it. This took me about an hour to write, one night at the Carrows restaurant at which Kimi works, and was recorded the next morning.
Lyrics
I met her in my second home
working from dawn 'til dawn of the next day
I asked for a drink, she sat down-
looked me in the eye, gave me an alligator
and it's not what you think
she's just all out of drinks
today
I walk through her door, I see her,
she smiles at me, tells me to have a coke
I open the fridge- it's empty
we run outside, jump in her pickup truck
and it's not what you think
we're just buying some drinks
And we drink through the night
on a caffeine high
Watching Twelve Monkeys
she gets a glazed look in her eye
looks in the mirror,
she sees Bruce smiling back at her
she drifts away, to save the world again
The next thing I knew she was gone
jumped out the window to her next event
I don't know for sure where she went
maybe the moon or finding the Fifth Element
And it's all so intense
when you've lost your Sixth Sense
She's lost in a world
of her own creation
I wish I could go-
as it sounds it's a Die Hard situation
Then I saw Bruce,
and he was driving her car
I take a second take
she drifts away
and through it all
I'm as confused as you
And it's not as it seems,
we're all lost in her dream
She rocks in a world
of her own creation
I wish I could go-
as it sounds it's an awesome destination
She stares at the TV
and sees her smiling back at her
she drifts away
she drifts away
she drifts away
and I'm as confused as you
