This was recorded at NYC's The Elbow Room in February 2003, with Darrell Long on percussion. |
Credits: Thanks to Darrell Long for the awesome percussion, Larry Oakes for the recording, and Jamie & Cheryl for the cheers. |
Story Behind the Song
The Elbow Room is a great place to play. It had been pretty cold that week, but it was kind of warm that day, so I started off by thanking my cousin Jamie and her friend Cheryl for visiting from Florida and bringing some warm weather with them.
Lyrics
Sometimes there’s no direction, sometimes it’s just confusion
Tryin’ to make sense out of nothing
I try to find some peace, try to piece together
A little piece of something, of anything
Well there’s many parts of me
But the biggest is the part that tears apart the whole of me
When I really need to pull myself together
Even though I know I’m just a man, I know I’m only human
I still ignore that calming inner voice
I throw out what I need, don’t believe all that stuff I read
And just give in to all the shouting and the noise
Well there’s many parts of me
But the biggest is the part that tears apart the whole of me
When I really need to pull myself together
Well there’s many parts of me
But the biggest is the part that tears apart the whole of me
When I really need to pull myself together
