	Story Behind the Song This is the first song I ever wrote. I knew very little about songwriting at the time, and the lyrics are very simple. As a teenager, I had awakened to a world of emotional mountains and valleys, and the painful transitions between the two. However, as a Christian I knew that I had a hope and a future in Christ, and I wanted to share that with the world. At the time our band did a mix of classic rock and christian rock cover songs, and we really felt the need for some original numbers. We debuted this song at the Greenville Country Christmas festival in 1998 or 1999. Lyrics Verse One: Sometimes I laugh and somtimes I cry And sometimes it seems the world'll get me down And I know that I can't make it on my own But when things are bad and my life seems crazy And even my close friends just let me down I think God and know that I am not alone Chorus: I am not alone my friend Jesus watches over me He leads me through this troubled world He has set me free Verse Two: Whenever my worries start to weigh me down And I feel like I won't survive another day I go to the Lord, get down on my knees and pray And He will be with me and give me a hand And give me the strength to live through one more day There's no doubt about it, Jesus is the way
