Story Behind the Song
I think the later I go to bed, the weirder and freakier my dreams get (and I do dream like every night). I've been having a lot of "rerun" dreams, a lot of them being about high school instead of college or post college stuff. Anyway, this one is about someone recently. But who cares?
It's basically a very surreal dream I had where I was getting married to someone I liked maybe, but the person who was hanging out with me before the wedding was the one I really wanted to be with. Why would I be thinking about this stuff?
This was the first approach I've made away from a more "live" rock sound to something that you record with a lot of different parts and stuff. If you're recording something, why not put a lot of work and tracks into it?
This song took one night to record. Then I spent like a month on and off getting the pans, compressions, and all that crap okay. Right now the files float between two programs, and the program I mix with I can automate the levels or pans, so yada yada yada, what a nightmare.
Anyway, I've talked too much. Hope you enjoy.
Lyrics
I'll see you at one tonight,
for what could be one time.
At the altar ten hours later,
you're not walking down the aisle.
In your place a cold wind blows,
watching me from second row.
In my dreams,
In my sleep,
In my dreams,
While I sleep.
Comforting backstage,
in grey instead of white,
and I will never know why,
you didn't give a fight.
Then you said, "You picked her instead of me."
Good thing it's something that you said...
In my dreams.
You're in my dreams.
