Back in the day, Spectrum was known in the Bay Area for original songs combining Afro-Cuban & funk styles. Spectrum packed fans into popular SF Latin clubs, and attracted talent scouts, as well as members of Santana, Malo and Azteca to band performances. This hot new version of "Cha-Cha de Funke" features Karl Perazzo of Santana on timbales and bongos. Ray played the congas. Of special interest are the tasty blues/Latin-rock Santana-styled guitar licks by Cedrick, that weave around the Tower-Of-Power-styled horn parts and sax solos. Shades of El Chicano Latin-rock, and Gerald Wilson Afro-Cuban jazz. Very intense! |
