I saw on the news last night---(June 9, 2003)---that there's a Boy Band that just formed in Iraq. Now there's something we wouldn't have seen if Saddam Hussein was still in power. This song is also about my disgust with just how much mud-slinging goes on, back and forth, in the weary name of "Truth"... ..You know Folks, they say "listen to both sides of the story, and usually The Truth is somewhere in the middle" and I kinda think that's one of the Truest Things I've Ever Heard. ~Lesley

    Story Behind the Song
...Well, let's see what else I can put in here that isn't in the description...........
..Couple of days ago, I saw a thing on one of the cable news channels...c-span 2 I think it was... ...and there was some sort of debate
between Bill O'Reilly and Al Franken..
..Thing is, to me, I've at one time or another heard both of these men say things that made sense to me.. ...(Okay, Al Franken naming the 80s "The Al Franken Decade" was a little ridiculous, but it was funny at any rate,
and I kinda liked Al because of such bodaciousness despite the inaccuracy...
...anyone who was there knows that the 80s
was more aptly titled "The Ronald Reagan Decade")...
..Point is, I like both these guys well enough
to hear what they have to say..
....too bad whatever they were trying to say
was takin' a back seat to this hissy-fissy-pissy fit that was goin' on between 'em.. ..Yeah, there was some lady on
who wrote some book that was unfavorable to
my boy W, and I happen to like W. I still
would've listened to what she had to say,
'cause I like to get all sides of the story,
but, unfortunately that too took a back seat
to the mud fight, and this includes much of
the telephone calls that came in as well.

AS I say in this song:
I'm standing in the middle of the road,
and I'll get the truth if it takes me
    till I'm old. ~Lesley

    Lyrics
    The Boy's Band From Iraq

    Yeah!
    Whoa Yeah!

    You got a big mouth
From East to West to North to South
    They hear it all day
As if you had something to say
It goes from Right to Left to Left to Right
    The mud-slinging every night
    Despite your damn lies
    Humanity is on the rise

    Now there's a Boy's Band In Iraq
That says it all and that's a fact
Before we freed them, you'd never see that
    Well, can't you see?
Here comes The Boy's Band From Iraq
    Saddam Hussein never wanted that
Now I'm ashamed to be a Democrat
    You don't speak for me

    Step One:
Stop using your mouth like a gun
    Step Two:
See everybody else is a person too
I saw Bill O'Reilly and Al Franken spit
Back and forth and having a fit
    If there was a point
    It grew cold
You both look about ten years old

    Now there's a Boy's Band In Iraq
That says it all and that's a fact
Before we freed them, you'd never see that
    Hey, can't you see?
Here comes The Boy's Band From Iraq
    Saddam Hussein never wanted that
How 'bout you stop being full of crap?
    You're not fooling me

Oh, spell it out for 'em, Benny!

    Whoa
    Whoa

    You turn a blind eye
To everything not on your side
    I'll bet your having fun
But some of us would rather see the job get done
You talk about 'Liars And The Lies They Tell'
But never mind that that's the book you're trying to sell
I'm standing right in the middle of the road
I'll get the truth if it takes me till I grow old

    Now there's a Boy's Band In Iraq
That says it all and that's a fact
Before we freed them, you'd never see that
    Oh, can't you see?
Here comes The Boy's Band From Iraq
    Saddam Hussein never wanted that
    Republicans and Democrats
    Grow up
    Won't you please?

    Now there's a Boy's Band In Iraq
    Yeah there's a Boy's Band In Iraq
    Well there's a Boy's Band In Iraq
    In Iraq
    In Iraq
    In Iraq
    In Iraq
    In Iraq
    In Iraq
    In Iraq
    In Iraq
    In Iraq
    In Iraq
    In Iraq

    Whoa
    Whoa

    Yeah there's a Boy's Band In Iraq
Here comes The Boy's Band From Iraq
Here comes The Boy's Band From Iraq
Here comes The Boy's Band From Iraq
Here comes The Boy's Band From Iraq
