Progressive folk? I hate the damn genre subdivisions myself (not that I'm cranky or anything). Starts off mellow, acoustic, and with vocals. Ends up mellow, electronically layered, and vocal-free. Most current version is on the official website. |

Story Behind the Song
It was originally less than two minutes long, so i stopped singing and dragged it out for another four. I forget if I was writing about a bead of sweat or a tear. Hmm....guess that could change the tone of the song considerably. Passionate? Erotic? Sad?
It also used to have one more line at the end of the vocal portion, "Would we realize that love's not all but always has to be?" which basically finishes the thought that starts with "If we upheld the notions..." But when I added the vocals I realized that I didn't play long enough to sing that part, and I didn't feel like doing it all over again, so I left it the way it is.
Lyrics
Dripping from familiar face
Trailing down the cheek
and cross the lips
to disappear
Then immediately embrace
If I held you long enough
Would everything subside?
Would you believe?
If we upheld the notions
Fed to us
Throughout our tragedies?
