The cursed "song for girlfriend's birthday" song written and recorded way back in '96 (she dumped me 8 hours later). And recently re-recorded (see song story).Ah well..at least I got a song out of it that-ironically-girls seem to like a lot.The vocals in this mix are more balanced than before, and the beautiful tone of the classical guitar that Dave loaned me for the recording is allowed to come through ,especialy if you can listen in hi-fi,as the vocals still smother the guitar a little in the lo-fi stream).

    Story Behind the Song
I think anyone with half a brain can figure out the motivation.So..I gave her the song for her birthday and she dumped me blah, blah, blah. And I never listened to it again. After my vocal performance on "Conspiracie en Rouge" (a heavy song,of all things)Dave thought the time was right for me to redo a couple of my old acoustic pieces, the other of them being "From Here to Eternity",which almost didn't get recorded! (Whew! Thanks for making me press on in the studio,Dave!)
And,much to my amazement,I remembered how to play this one.I think my voice sounds kinda weird on the 1st couple and last couple of verses,as I'm actually singing in a range that's too high for me..but girls seem to like the song,so who cares?!:)That's um...whaddaya call it...brutally ironic!

    Lyrics
    Reflections

Eyes of my reflection reflecting in to me
I can't see what it is that you see in me
I guess I should just be grateful, and not question the reasons why
I find all the answers that I need when I look into your eyes

Somebody told me, someday, -someone would see the things you see
In my bitter blackness, I could not believe
I had abandoned hope, but hope awaited paintently
And in my darkest hour, you gave your heart to me

Now I see that prayers are answered, and sins can be forgiven
Though not always in the manner that we had intended
My eyes were finally opened to what was given us
To think I almost lost it nearly breaks my heart

Often I had questioned my being- could it be a mistake?
Somebody told me God doesn't make mistakes
Perhaps I was overlooked in the cosmic scheme of things?
No, there's a path for you, a path for me, a path laid out for everybody

Then our paths crossed and our lives touched
    slowly merged to one
So many connections so close to us
    that we never saw

Ten-thousand days alone nearly broke me in two
But I see it was worth the wait to find the love in you
No matter how long I hold you, it's never long enough
Every kiss you've given me, I clearly recall

Every time you look at me, I see more than just a look
Every time you touch me, I feel more than just a touch
So I give you now no boundaries, no line that can't be crossed
Put your arms around me and listen to the beating of my heart
