Story Behind the Song
Inspired by Stevie Wonder's music. The lyrics are about how I feel about my man. Song was written in my home overlooking the ocean. Took about 15 hours to record. Pretty much first take.
Lyrics
A MAN LIKE YOU
(Words and Music by Carol Simpson)
VERSE I
How could it be that I, in my life,
Could find someone like you? I have no clue.
How fortunate I’ve been to come across a man
Like you.
CHORUS I
I couldn’t ask for more than a man like you.
Ain’t no one else for sure can love me like you do.
VERSE I
When I’m feelin’ low…you know
Just what to do to me…to do to me.
When I need release…you squeeze
The love right out…right out of me.
CHORUS II
I couldn’t ask for more than a man like you.
Don’t even look no more with a man like you.
I couldn’t ask for more than a man like you
No one can do the things you do.
VERSE III
When I cannot sleep…you reach
Out and hold me tight…you hold me tight,
In your body heat…so sweet
Inside your warmth…inside all night.
CHORUS III
I couldn’t ask for more than a man like you.
No one has done before what you do…ooo…
AD LIBS
Ooo…you soothe, my mood, ooo…
Nobody else will do
After a man like you, ooo…
Nobody but you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you…
You heal the aches inside, from all the love I hide
Could search the whole world through
Wouldn’t find a man like you!
There ain’t no man like you!
There ain’t no man like you!
