Story Behind the Song
"Der Rebbe Elimelech" is a Yiddish version of "Old King Cole." As the rabbi gets drunker and drunker, the music gets faster and wilder, building to a fun, up-tempo climax.

(TRANSLATION)
As the Rabbi Elimelech felt a happy mood upon him,
He took off his philacteries and put on his glasses
And sent for his two fiddlers.
And the fiddling fiddlers fiddled in a fiddling way.
As the Rabbi Elimelech felt happier still,
He took off his mantle and put on his cap
And sent for the two cymbalon players.
And the cymbalon players.....
And as the Rabbi Elimelech felt very happy indeed,
He made Havdole called for the beadle, Naftole,
And called for the two drummers.
And the drummers.....
