	Story Behind the Song After complaining for years about being served raw tomatoes at fast food joints, I was finally able to get a tune together. We wanted to get a "front porch" feel with this tune, and it was recorded in 3 takes. Lyrics Farmer John you've got to be blind you picked this tomato before its time its life cut short by your greed but atop my burger, its obviously green! oh what a pity, to die in vane but it aint red, its shurely plain out with the garbage the tomato will go its useless life no one will know so let 'em ripen as nature intended and live a full life, turning red as recommended so someday when they do end up on a bun they'll be so good ripened by the sun chorus oh what a shame-oh what shame it aint red and it sure aint ripe i guess im eatin' ketchup tonite oh what a shame
