Story Behind the Song
Trials was written to encourage myself and others to 'keep on keeping on' no matter how tough things get. The concluding statement in the song states that "the joys of life are worth their sufferings"
I wrote the song at home during a very creative song writing period, which was most likely stimulated by attending a full time songwriting course at a creative arts college.Heavy amounts of time spent rehearsing but recording wise it only took 4 or 5 takes with a couple of vocal takes. Mixing took a good 3- 4 hours and became an instrument of it's own for the song when creating the vocal effects etc. There was very little overdubbing used in the final version, 99% of it is live takes, which we prefer, to capture the groove and spirit of the piece as a collective all at once.

Lyrics
I've walked with the good
I've walked with the wicked
Been slandered and cursed, honoured and praised
Worked with white collars,I've worked with the labourers
In sports and arts I have played
I've roared like a lion, purred like a cat
Gone to extremes, I've held myself back
Felt great victory, endured the loss
Led with direction and I've gotten lost
And sometimes I wish that four walls would surround me
With bars on the windows and chains on the doors
By my love for you will always make me step out to suffer the trials of this world
I've been through the seasons
Through rain and sun
Counted myself fortunate, considered myself cursed
Seen a new-born child, seen an ended life
I've been guilty and innocent alike
And sometimes I wish that four walls would surround me
With bars on the windows and chains on the doors
But my love for you will always make me step out to suffer the trials of this world
Seen the beauty, witnessed the ugliness
Yeah I've watched dreams shatter
And the making of new visions
But I still believe the joys of life are worth their sufferings
The joys of life are worth their sufferings
And sometimes I wish that four walls would surround me
With bars on the windows and chains on the doors
But my love for you will always make me step out to suffer the trials of this world
So come on!
