	Story Behind the Song When I started writing Heaven I wanted to write one of those great love songs, the ones that take you back to the moment your first heard them. I had in mind all of those love songs they play at senior proms, like "With or Without You" by U2, or "Truly, Madly, Deeply" by Savage Garden. I wanted to write a song that was that powerful, and that innocent, at the same time. The impetus came when a band I was in played at a dance in the Utah State Capitol. It was a beautiful evening, and playing in that building with all that wonderful echo was what I imagined Heaven would sound like. At one point during the evening I started playing this beautiful, crystaline chord progression. It became this song. Not long after that night, I met the girl who would become the love of my life. During this period of time I was going through some real hell in my personal and family life...this girl healed me. She got me through the "fire" I was facing at the time. I wrote this song to show her that, no matter what happened, I would be there for her...just as she had been for me. Lyrics Angel, will you open your eyes?
