	Story Behind the Song This song was originally a love song for my girlfriend who was away at college. After we broke up, I changed the lyrics to be a song about how much I missed her. Now with the lyrics in it's fourth incarnation, Safe and Sound has become a song not simply about the loss of a girl, but about the passing of time.
