    Story Behind the Song
Charley says as we're pulling out of Kentucky after a big festival "They really love us in Kentucky" I toyed with the phrase all the way home untill I came up with "Someone in Kentucky really loves me" and immediately got the melody. I wrote the song in about 2 hours.
We nailed it in one take as usual.

    Lyrics
    Someone in Kentucky
    ©2003 J. Baldassaro

We said goodbye without a word
If she spoke – I never ever heard her
She didn’t cry – she just stood there
She never did a thing to let me know that she cared

I left that small town with big town dreams
    Had to find my way
But now the only thing that I can dream of
    Every single day

    Chorus
That someone in Kentucky really loves me
And says it’s not the same since I’ve been gone
Someone in Kentucky really loves me
And wonders when it is I’m coming home

I feel like I’ve been on this road forever
Always dreaming I was going home
That someone in Kentucky really loves me
And that’s the sweetest love I’ve ever known

    Greyhound days Best Western nights
Empty lovers that never ever felt right
I still see a face that haunts me
And I pray to God that she still wants me

I left this small town with big town dreams
    Had to find my way
But now the only thing that I can dream of
    Every single day

    Chorus
That someone in Kentucky really loves me
And says it’s not the same since I’ve been gone
Someone in Kentucky really loves me
And wonders when it is I’m coming home

    Break
I feel like I’ve been on this road forever
    Dreaming ‘bout those Appalachian hills
I go back to the one who really loves me
And if she takes me back you know I will
Yes if she takes me back you know I will
