    Story Behind the Song
It simply speaks of lying down in bed, and not being able to do anything, because one is so overwhelmed by a recent conversation. In this song, I tried to crystallize the feeling of a late night talk in the college dorm halls I had just had with the aforementioned second individual. A warm base undertone surrounds the higher strumming chords and dancing tune. The line, “We talked of books all night,” conveys a particular lovely aspect of living in the Porter dorms.

    Lyrics

I saw your hand touch the stereo

    There's a paper I should write,
we talked of books all night,
but all that I do is lay in my bed
and think of relationships that could have been,
    if the way things were
were not the way things were
were not the way things were
were not the way things were--
I saw your hand touch the stereo
did you notice the way that it felt?

When I see it, the part that starts; it is most perfect art.
I try so hard just to keep it in
    but now the cracking starts...
I saw your hand touch the stereo,
did you notice the way that it felt?

    His eyes got wide
    like envelopes
    his eyes got wide
    is this a sign?
    his eyes...
