Story Behind the Song
I write songs in bursts; groups of songs, that is. This song was written by me a couple years ago after breaking up with my girlfriend, and I used to jokingly call it "DLS #3", short for "Demented Love Song #3" (Numbers 1 and 2 have yet to be recorded). Anyway, this is one of my "poetic songs" (it seems a little TOO poetic now, if you ask me) and it was easy enough to record on the computer. Hope you enjoy it.
Lyrics
I woke up this morning with junk in my head
'cause all of my friends have ended up dead
I went to the river to clean off my bones
I scratched my pretenses away on the stones
your eyes look out from the horizon
I found out what a fool I was, it wasn't that surprising
Over concrete beach, they're so blue and gold
to take care of me, while I get old
Will you forgive me if I fall one more time
'cause all of your kisses taste like lemons and wine
It's sweet and it's bitter, it's hot and I'm cold
I'm so obsessed with the lead that I can't see the gold
Your eyes look out with such great patience
It's notable to note at the absence of vengeance
Over concrete beach, they're so blue and gold
to take care of me, while I get old
And I pray to sweet Jesus
To find the road between
Take the love and curse the selfishness
Oh Darling, you know that I was so God-damned mean.
