An 'answer' song to Shauna Skye's "I Don't Like That Girl". Drums done in Fruity Loops, I played everything else and did the vocals on cheap computer mic to keep the song true to its inspiration. I am not a singer (at all!), so you'll have to bear with me on the vox.
This version has been slightly remixed. |
CD: "That Girl" maxi single
Label: Buzz USA
Credits: Written by Robert Van Buren and Shauna Skye. Produced by Robert Van Buren. |
Story Behind the Song
Mick Hoyle (from Mick & the Flying Platters) and I are big fans of Shauna Skye, so while we were listening to some of her tunes, we were amused by the possibilities of an answer song for "I Don't Like That Girl", since nobody has done an answer song in decades. After brainstorming concepts, I sat down and realized the lyrics, followed by the music (based on the original). It was recorded in the same manner as Shauna's classic (except I used Fruity Loops, instead Of Acid Loops) and there exists a handful of mixes, but I'll go with this one. Another interesting sidenote: Roger Eaker has a version of this song coming up, as well as Mick & the Flying Platters, and new Buzz USA artist Sam Slade.
Lyrics
I DON'T LIKE THAT GIRL, EITHER
Music by Shauna Skye and Robert Van Buren; lyrics by Robert Van Buren.
I don't like that girl, either
She hangs around with me
Don't want to be her boyfriend
That's just reality
I don't like her act
She's everything I feared
You know she'll never take your place
Because that girl's so weird
Now she's too far gone, now she's too far gone
I don't like that girl, either
Follows me all around
She messes with my social life
Playing the lost and found
Don't like the way she stares
Even with all her curves
She's always in my hair, girl
That girl gets on my nerves
Now she's too far gone, now she's too far gone
That day you thought I was with her
You know she made the first move
She's too far gone
I don't like that girl, either
But I think I like you
