An aggressive metal song about apathy. |
Credits: Words: Ben Drexler, Music: Blank Slate |
Story Behind the Song
This song was written after Ben had a conflict with his roommates. Feeling annoyed with their lack of engagement and with human apathy in general, it was written as a defiant anthem to people who don't put anything back into the world. It was originally a slow-moody piece, but Peter changed the whole vibe of the song with an aggressive drum pattern that gave the whole piece a new depth. It was recorded in five takes over the course of three days.
Lyrics
I feel, I say
What I think about and what you want today
I know, no way
I won't let you throw all my efforts away
Do you see through?
Janus, two-faced
Dropping on me now, when I'm hurting and helpless
Give me one time
I'll turn all of the tables and give you a taste of bile
Cut and cleaned
And I
You won't bleed me dry
You won't waste my time
I won't lay down and die
But you don't care
You drain my joy
Want it for yourself or just a little green boy?
I know your act
I won't let you catch me in your bullshit trap
Need a better home
And I
You won't bleed me dry
You won't waste my time
I won't lay down and die
But you don't care
And I feel like time just ain't on my side
I feel the walls closing, sundown on my pride
I watch, I hope for the best, but it's an uphill road
When everyone around's looking out for number one
My trust I throw like loaves out upon the mass
But now I know I just catch it in the ass
No need to grieve, there's better times up ahead
And I can feel it
And I
You won't bleed me dry
You won't waste my time
I won't lay down and die
But you don't care
Bleed me dry
