Story Behind the Song
When I first decided to leave college to pursue music, there was little to no support from my friends and family. This song was me asking them to see my perspective of the situation. I think that with all things, it's important to see both the "flight before the fall" and "the run after the crawl", and not base decisions off slow beginnings or perceived failure. This song is one of my favorites.
Lyrics
I can see you didn't care
When I told you I was happy where I am.
But you can't see inside my room
From the outside of my door.
Don't you worry about me.
You try to tell me things were fine back then.
But I'm not afraid to try for something
So much better than before.
You've got to see the flight before the fall.
You've got to see the run after the crawl.
And if I see the sun set down on me,
It'll be my turn to shiver.
So close your mouth and clean your hide.
Wash the dirt away, I know it's hard sometimes.
Change, change, change, it's only on the outside.
I've been looking inside me.
And things were anything but fine back then.
But now everybody's got this feeling
That was never there before.
