    Story Behind the Song
    Fisher wrote this song as his first band, Faded, was breaking down. As the decision to leave Stargun Holloway seemed more and more eminent, he felt a need to record it on this album as a final farewell.

    The clip of Jared at the beginning ("I can hear it as it go, singin' 'sleep, my honey, take your rest at last'") was him reciting Paul Lawrence Dunbar's "Death Song" as a mic check about a week before Fisher announced his retirement from the band.

    Lyrics
    I guess it's time to set the story straight
    About the life I wanted once to live.
    Am I happy, am I sad?
    Have I ever felt so bad?
    Can't someone point me toward the right place?

    So, wait up now,
    The sun is sure to hit us all.
    With one last push into the sky.

    Engaged in a little time warp,
    Enraged with the bottle uncorked.
    Believe me now, I don't mean to fly.
    If the silly, little night-life
    Never takes its toll,
    I guess you'll be a better man than I.

    Can I be here when you're waiting?
    Can I be here when you're down?
    Do you think I need an answer 'cause I'm alone?
    Well, I don't need an answer now.

    So forget about the bitter past,
    And how it's gone away too fast.
    Let's remember times that are at hand.
    The nights spent spilling drink in hand;
    All the days broke to the man;
    I hope that these days will conquer all.

    So, in closing all I leave to you
    Is what's life's trying to get us through:
    Don't ever hang your head and walk away.
    Cause no matter how this day has gone,
    Or how life's tumbles left you strong.
    Always see your name up in the lights.

    Can I be here when you're waiting?
    Can I be here when you're down?
    Do you think I need an answer 'cause I'm alone?
    Do you think you need to brind me down?
    Do you think I need an answer 'cause I'm alone?
    Well, I don't need an answer now.
