Story Behind the Song
The woman, she is criminal, no? In Angie's words: "I wanted to write a song that told a story and this is what I came up with. This song is my favorite..."
Lyrics
Well she wasn't one of my dearest friends, she was never any good with men with bleach blonde hair and legs up to the sky. So it wasn't hard before too long that she sat me down and then I wrote this song, but the only words I could rectify were the ones that say she was much to blame as she walks around with a brand new name and leaving her man could never be quite as good. For it was much too easy just to skip town, to hide in the smoke when the flames went down, she never did what everyone thought she should. Oh, she's been tried. Keep your eyes wide.
Well I think he had seen her once before, he asked for less but she wanted more so she strangled him and left him there. She knew he could never be the one, so when it started up she came undone and it proved quite clear she had no time to spare. Now if he'd had let it ride she'd have let it go, when passion runs it never runs slow and it pours upon you but it never tastes like wine. So it never mattered in the first place, she'll give him his requested space and if you ask her how he feels, he feels just fine.
Oh, she's been tried. Keep your eyes wide.
Some say she's a version of the devil's wrath, she could be a plain old psychopath, but either way she could'nt care less. And if you ask her if she has regrets, she'll say she's never had to yet, she only does what she feels is best.
Oh she's been tried. Keep your eyes wide.
