    Story Behind the Song
We wanted to emphasize the vocals, so we left the sounds between the lyrics simple, just guitars coming in with distortion and piano. We pulled the piano from a Yamaha S80 (good action) and the guitars through a basic Marshall set-up with a chorus pedal for the melody overlays.

    Lyrics
I wish I was driving a road far from here.
I wish I had no place to go.
I wish that the sun could be my only goal.
Wheels pointed west 'til the end.

But it's been a while since I've taken a break
And every day brings something new.
There's no need for big words
    When the silence is fine
And I don't when I'll be back again.
And I don't know when I'll be back again.

There's a face and a name for every place that I've been,
and the smell always sticks in my mind.
I'm sure any would do to keep warm by the fire.
But nothing heals quite like the road.

But it's been a while since I've taken a break,
    and everyday brings something new.
There's no need for big words when the silence is fine,
and I don't know when I'll be back again,
and I don't know when I'll be back again.

Consider me selfish or call me a fool,
you can accuse me of running away.
But how much of the world can you see standing still.
I'll move my feet on for today.
And I don't think that I'm gonna stay.

But it's been a while since I've taken a break,
    and everyday brings something new.
There's no need for big words when the silence is fine,
and I don't know when I'll be back again,
and I don't know when I'll be back again.

I wish I was driving a road far from here.
I wish I had no place to go
I wish that the sun could be my only goal.
Wheels pointed west 'til the end.
