Story Behind the Song
"Leave" was actually written in Josh's junior high years, about 8 years ago. The song was given the pet name "Happy Song." "Leave" was added as the true title, but "Happy Song" stuck as a subtitle. The lyrics were written by John during a particular practice. Most listeners would agree after hearing the song, that it is a bitter statement to love gone bad. However, the lyrics are actually about band members fighting at the very moment the lyrics were being written.
This song is incredibly short and simple, but a well crafted melody and lyrics combined with catchy guitars has apparently made this song a listener favorite.
Lyrics
You're a stupid little bitch
For stupid little reasons
They're all wrong for this season that we're in
If I can open up your cover
One way or another
We'll see this ol' trap we're falling in
What time is it in your world?
You're backwards, you're upside down.
Why can't you shut up just once?
Just sit there, don't make a sound
I've been lots of places
I've seen lots of faces
Seen almost everything
I can tell you this
I've never seen anything
Like the chaos you can bring
Just by walking in
And opening up your mouth and sayin'
I need this and that
Tip your hat, kneel right there where you are
You can stay or go
I just don't know, you gotta get right back in your jar again.
This whole thing is all a joke
Another pill to swallow
I'm just not gonna follow if you're lost too
But your mouth is always open
And I find myself hoping
You'd leave so I'd have a better view
