    Story Behind the Song
This guy admitted he was intimate with his ex and she realized he made his decisions. She was not the one. She realized she could no longer be with him and that if he had truly cared he wouldn’t have been with his ex. She realized that the power of that feeling between them, the chemistry between them was just not something they should’ve acted on. It was simply that, an unexplainable attraction that should’ve never been explored. Perhaps it was two old souls that recognized each other from a past life, but not meant to be together in this life. She could see his coldness after they separated, his distance from everyone around him. She could see how he wanted to talk to her, but could never bring himself to do it.

In the beginning he swept her off her feet with his words and his actions, and also did the opposite with lack of communication or lack of attention. She new that something was going to happen to them, to break them up, it was a matter of time. Her internal spirit was dieing with hurt, pain and deceit yet the attraction and hope was still so strong between them. She was neglecting her emotions and held back all of her questions about their status together. She realized this when she kept seeing a dragonfly. In symbolism a dragonfly represents your neglect to address emotions or it means your holding back your emotions. She realized how deceiving he was and how much he lied to her and his ex. She also realized he never planned on leaving his ex. He simply needed a breath of fresh air to make himself realize he still wanted his ex. He wasn’t that beautiful man she thought he was, he wasn’t so perfect and he wasn’t that man of her dreams. He had flaws, many flaws. She felt like a fool and thought she should’ve been more realistic, there is no perfect man. He should’ve never came into her life he should’ve just stayed where he was, because that is the same placed he ended up at.. ..

    Lyrics
    “You Should’ve Stayed”

You should’ve stayed where you were,
You should’ve stayed where you were,

Words you revealed you betrayed me,
It was something that you told me,
Never had to think it twice,
    A moment that I realized,
    Passion never meant to live,
    Gravity never meant to give,
My absence had left you cold,
    Together you try to hold,
Swept up by your wind, weakened by your rain,
It’s coming, it’s gonna take you away,
My light is dieing, yet the fire burns high,
Emotions build; I’ve seen the dragonfly,
    Everything about you is deceiving,
I realize you never planned on leaving,
    Your beauty never truly existed,
    I
    Should’ve been realistic

You should’ve stayed where you were,
You should’ve stayed where you were.
