Story Behind the Song
In a homeless shelter in Madison Wisconsin in January of 1994 one talkative white homey began to point out how all the homeless folks sitting there staring into space were like "packages stuck on a shelf". The thought stuck in my mind and I have certainly felt that way many a time. When I composed this song I felt the same way.
