This has a nice steady groove. One of my favorite parts is the violin lead. Vocally, it reminds me of Springsteen somewhat.

    Story Behind the Song
Song was written at a time when I had been feeling down for awhile. I was young man feeling old and trapped and frustrated and I was looking at old people I knew and recognizing how they often were in their fears and resistance to change. I knew it was time for me to break out of some old mental patterns and make a change.

I was learning about writing and recording (still am). I had no resources for producing the way I heard things so, this is all MIDI keyboard except for the acoustic guitar. Maybe someday, I'll re-record it with a band.

    Lyrics
    LOOK AT ME
words & music by Fremont John Ashton

Look at me I’m an old man now.
Look at me I’m an old man now.
Not by age but by how I feel.

    (1st time only)
    1. Love is gone I’m left here on my own.
All alone don’t know where I’m goin’.
But I know my heart’s as cold as a stone.

    (bridge)
    Look at me now,
Look at me now, tell me what do you see?
    Look at me now.
I’m so afraid to move and I’m so afraid to change.
I said, “Look at me now.”
I can’t seem to find my groove and I don’t want to change.
Here I am all alone at last.
I thought by now, some good things ‘d come to pass.

    Solo

    Look at me now,
Look at me now, tell me what do you see?
    Look at me now.
I’m so afraid to move and I’m so afraid to change.
I said, “Look at me now.”
I can’t seem to find my groove and I don’t want to change.
Here I am all alone at last.
I thought by now, some good things ‘d come to pass.
Here I am all alone at last.
Thought by now good things come to pass. (back to beginning)

Look at me I’m an old man now.
Look at me I’m an old man now.
Not by age but by how I feel.
Not by age but by how I feel.
Not by age but by how I feel.
And, I’ll feel better when a love is real.
