Story Behind the Song
Bobby had a friend named Jason Blankenship, one of his best friends. They got in an argument over something trivial and very stupid. Blanky ended up moving to Ohio. He died in a car accident about a week later; before Bobby could say he was sorry, before he could take back saying "I hate you." Words have the power of life and death.
Lyrics
Mid-July, a dark and windy night
Jason rolled his car, the night that Blanky died
Jason, I apologize for all the things I said
Jason, I'm so sorry, I still call you my friend
And I'm sorry, I'm so sorry
For things I didn't say before you died
And I'm sorry, I'm so sorry
I never got to tell you goodbye
We had our argument, and went our seperate ways
I wish I would've known you're time was down to days
I wish we weren't so bullheaded, I wish for Heaven's sake
I wish I had the strength to show up at your wake
If I had the chance, what would I say to you
If I could change the time, I know exactly what I'd do
GOD if you're listening, tell him I apologize
Tell him we miss him, and I wish I could change the time
