The first song recorded for our next CD. This is only the demo version that i recorded while hanging around with nothing to do but chill in the studio. Driving guitars and bitter lyrics.

    Story Behind the Song
This is the first song that we have recorded in the last six weeks. I wanted to just sit down and finish two or three songs that I had been working on for a while, things that I had written but never completed or done anything with. As soon as I sat down and started playing I realized that all of the songs could be combined into one, so as to make the final product more powerful and emotional. Most of the motivation for this song, and, in fact, the rest of the upcoming CD, came from summer nights that I spent trying to make into a great time but always seeming to fall short.

    Lyrics
This warm summer day is consuming me
as I drive home - my foot to the metal
This warm summer wind is pursuing me
Its always nipping at my back

You're asking me to bleed for things that I
    never knew I'd done wrong
You're asking me to leave you again

    Chorus:
And the time won't wait for anyone
    and the words they fade
I'm lonely and cold I'll be fine on my own
and there, and there I'll stay

    The warmth of your breath
    keeps on haunting me
as I drive home - my head full of downers
My Overwhelmed conscience is daunting me
    as I speed away
from where I should have stayed

This gaping wound it my soul it stings
from the salt of your new tears
    these widespread arms
    they wont hold you back

    Chorus:
And time won't wait for anyone
    and the words they fade
I'm lonely and cold I'll be fine on my own
and there, and there I'll stay

    Ending Bridge:
The street was wet with the rain
    as we kissed
as if for the first time I touched your lips
I know that you felt it
    but you ran away
as though - this love was not yours to give.
