A reflective song looking at lies, missed clues, and wrong understandings in a long distance relationship, while both parties find themselves lonely and apart in their respective worlds. |

Story Behind the Song
Basically, I was sitting in my dorm room, strumming some chords, and I figured that was a solid backdrop for a song. Hence, the opening line "I'm sitting here/In my dull dorm room." I felt that it was poignant to look at how we (me and my ex-girlfriend) were seperated by such distance, yet she was so such a part of my world even though she didn't realize it. Sooo, I figured that was fairly good justification for a song.
Lyrics
I'm sitting here
In my dull dorm room
Looking at my rug
And what it's been through
I'm sitting here
Looking at my wall
The pictures of you
You ruined it all
I can't stop thinking how
You'd given me signs I only see now
How you weren't yourself with me
Pretense of hypocrisy
This whole long distance thing
Was just an excuse to feel like a king
I forced myself upon you
Made all your friends love me too
But there was something there
An elated look we had to share
And that smile you always threw me
Hopped down the steps and screamed with glee
I guess I'm all confused
Why you'd want to make me feel so used
Perhaps you weren't happy
Guess what this is crappy
I'm sitting here
In my dull dorm room
Looking at my rug
And what it's been through
I'm sitting here
Looking at my wall
The pictures of you
You ruined it all
