    Story Behind the Song
I actually thought up most of the lyrics while taking various long, reflective walks down the streets of Manhattan. I sat in my room for hours thinking of words, but could never get past the tune. While walking I'd often start top string phrases together, and I'd make sure to remember them. When I started singing the song for people, and showing people the lyrics, they really seemed to like them. For me, it's an accurate portrayal of my confusion (and continued confusion) of what to do with the girl who'd broken my heart once I had the power.

    Lyrics
She blew my heart into smitherines
Yet still you tell me I'm your dream
I just don't know what to believe
I don't even know how to grieve
And so I found my way to move on
Breaking my promise not to be gone
Don't want my baby to hurt inside
Just know that I think of us and I cried

How do we go to the places we're going
When the places we've been are so overrated
How do we do the things that we do
To the people we love when we're seperated
Why has life pulled back into this
    Gruesome dark, dismal, abyss
Why do we try, to live while we die
When we break down and cry and look to the sky

    A month and twelve days
    I still miss her ways
And I can't stop loving you
I know that you need me too
I guess I'm sleeping alone tonight

    I wake up for school
    It still seems so cruel
And I hope that you're content
    You realize he's just friend
Will you contemplate your errs tonight

How do we go to the places we're going
When the places we've been are so overrated
How do we do the things that we do
To the people we love when we're seperated
Why has life pulled back into this
    Gruesome dark, dismal, abyss
Why do we try, to live while we die
When we break down and cry and look to the sky

    Yeah, oh no
    Yeah, oh no

How do we go to the places we're going
When the places we've been are so overrated
How do we do the things that we do
To the people we love when we're seperated
Why has life pulled back into this
    Gruesome dark, dismal, abyss
Why do we try, to live while we die
When we break down and cry and look to the sky
