Story Behind the Song
Down
With all of the lost people in this world, I often wonder where it all started for them. What makes a child grow up to be a murderer, thief, addict, or anything else rotten? What makes a husband snap and kill his wife, kids, and then himself? Where does the concious decision to commit these acts come into play in someones life? Although we can’t control peoples lives, I somehow feel that we are all responsible in some way. Even if it is just a tiny bit. I wrote this song from the perception of where it may begin.
For my friend Jeremy. Somebody does care. (For you guitarists, listen to this with headphones.)
Lyrics
Down
Little lady, come to me
we’ll make love, give me a disease
and we’ll get high sharin’ needles
messed up drugs for messed up people
chorus
Down, down, down
goin’ nowhere, been all around
down, down, yeah that’s me
your the weirdo, I’m the freak
My Old man, he loves to drink
he gets drunk and he loves to beat
black eyes and bruises is my way of life
I miss my momma, since momma died
chorus
I love to steal and I love to shoot
don’t need a reason point my gun at you
I was born, just like you
look at me and tell me, what’s your excuse?
chorus
