Story Behind the Song
Learning to soul search is a difficult process. Most people would rather look at others than look at themselves.
I wrote this song around 2:00am, (my most favorite time to write), on a cold winter night in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. I can still see the snowflakes falling through the light of the street lamp as I quietly sat on the edge of my bed and played. This song took all of ten minutes to write. This is also the only song that I’ve ever written in the wee hours of the morning without jotting down and notes or chord progressions. Something I normally do.
I’ve always done my best writing in that U.P bedroom, and if you listen to this song through headphones, late at night, you can’t help but feel the emotions I was feeling that night. My girlfriend always says “It’s like invading your privacy”. I would have to say that I agree.
Lyrics
The reason Behind
Maybe when I die, I will find out why
at the reason, behind, who I am
But until that time, I will hide away my pride
and I will try to live my whole, everyday life
And I can only try, to do what I think is right
when I mess up, it only shows that I’m human
chorus
Maybe in tomorrow’s land, I’ll be a normal man
but if not all I can do is sit back and laugh
I play my guitar and cry, to pass away my night
it’s my best friend, it’s my wife, and it’s my life
And I live day by day, and I try to stay away
from a love, from a disease, that made me this away
chorus
Maybe in tomorrow’s land, I’ll be a happier man
but if not, all I can do is sit back and laugh
And maybe when I die, I will care less why
at the reason, behind, who I am
