Story Behind the Song
Another "after the break-up"(proving that ex-wives are to good for something!)song, "THE DRAW!" was written with the idea of pitching it to Orbison's bus driver for Roy, but within a few days of completing the demo he died. (Roy Orbison that is, not the bus driver.)
So Fred had to do it himself!(sigh)
Lyrics
(verse 1)
I know it's over, you've found yourself another man.
I forgive you, sometimes I even understand.
But, if he ever does you wrong, or sets you free-
You've got my number, call on me!
(chorus)
But let's call it a draw for now,
some loser's win anyhow!
And winners'll plot and scheme,
play their games, lose their dreams.
Let's call it a draw for now,
it's too painful; anyhow,
it's all that the law allows.
Let's call it a draw for now!
(guitar solo)
(repeat chorus)
(guitar solo turn-around)
(ending)
But if he ever does you wrong or sets you free,
You've got my number, call on me!
But I know it's over,
sometimes I even under-
stand!
