dirty, dirty...blues...?. old overalls and hot nights. Blue/black sky and sparkling stars. A nice gentleman in a blue/black suit: can't quite see his face...but I might just let him take me out tonight. I hear he can sure play the guitar.
    CD: Urbanhobo   Label: les1930
    Credits: Rooster & Ree (Graves/Murphy)

    Story Behind the Song
This was one of the songs that we finished writing just as we were going into the studio to record "Urbanhobo". This song wasn't intended for the album, but we just started warming up with it and it seemed right. Rooster's rich guitar part just fell in line with mine...it was hot, we were sticky from sweat and tacos and we stared crossing our vocal lines. No melody and harmony, no lead and back up. Just two voices that collide so well that even I can't always figure out who is singing...

    Lyrics
i found you down at the crossroads
    you were walking alone
i found you down at the crossroads
    with yer suitcase an' stones
you didn't wanna to see me and you didn't know the time
But i'd gladly take those rocks from you and roll them in with mine

i found you down at the crossroads
    you were wearin' that gown
i found you down at the crossroads
    you weren't foolin'around
lookin fer yer reflection in the *sparkles* of yer dress and walkin like yer somebody who has never been impressed
    down at the corssroads

i found you down at the crossroads
    you were walkin alone
i found you down at the crossroads
    and i carried you home
you didn't wanna see me and you asked me how i found you
    baby, i wasn't lookin
i was just walkin there too...
    down at the crossroads.
