Going for the slick.... |
Credits: Gina Jacobi |
Story Behind the Song
The second piece of music for that soundtrack. The music was written & arranged by Gina Jacobi, who I have been fortunate enough not just to work with, she also accepted when I asked her to be engaged to me... ;o]
Gina came over to my studio with most of the tracks ready - drums, keyboards & some other stuff, we tracked down a few guitars & did a mix. The short movie was intended for silver screen & Dolby SR, so we ran into some problems mixing, among other things the chorus I had on the guitar when recording the solo.... after a few tryouts we solved “how to” & the guy who made the movie was happy with the result.... Guitargear used was an Blade strat with EMG pickups, soloing on the neck singlecoil through a Soldano SLO100 with two MESA 4x12” miced with a Neumann 87 & two AKG 414TLII. I mixed the microphones in the console & bounced them into ProTools as a stereo track. The CS5 TriStereoChorus was on in the FX loop all the time, then I added a little reverb from an Lexicon 91 & some delay from an TC D.Two in the mix.
This song is so much more slick then the first jingle. Someone said “Larry Carlton”... but... nah..... The short movie had a anti rasistic message, so.... even its instrumental... consider it “parental advisory”.... Special thanx, & all my love to Gina, we did have fun recordning this.... :o]
Check out Ginas website - www.ginajacobi.com - Her 7th album - the first in English - is soon to be released & the first song from is has already had lots of airplay on the DAB radiostation www.passionfortheplanet.com.
