Straight from the gut, then and now. Lennon was the dirt the Beatles grew out of, and this song was the first to prove that to me. Those old 45's were my first teachers, and The White Album remains a touchstone to this day; thanks, John. | MP3.com CD: The Blues - tod - buy it!

Story Behind the Song
After a long haul pushing only my tunes, I remembered that practically everyone I grew up listening to, learning from (Beatles, Stones, Cream, Hendrix, Beck, yada yada yada) and respecting, made their mark initially by doing stuff people already knew and liked... so, what the hey, huh?
This tune was hardly the Beatles' biggest song, but it WAS one of their raunchiest, and, as I recall, my first indication that Lennon and McCartney had very different writing styles. Even though it bears the credits of The Team, you just KNOW McCartney had very little to do with Yer Blues... it was a foreshadowing of the gut wrenching stuff Lennon was to come out with after the breakup, and the demons he had to deal with (No, I don't mean Yoko).
This is really a tribute to John... this tune in particular became an anthem for my teenage angst. If it weren't for BritPop, I may never have gotten into the Blues in the first place... so thanks for setting MY record straight, guys.
