Story Behind the Song
As usual, we wrote the music before the lyrics. We tend to write lyrics based on how the song "feels", and it felt like it belonged in some suspense thriller or something. Michelle (keyboardist) added the wind sound to it, and then we thought it sounded like an Edgar Allen Poe poem. So, Spring wrote a "story" based on the poem "The Tell-Tale Heart".
Lyrics
Too much to take
For goodness sake.
Can't go much further.
Been up all night
In my own fright.
I feel like murder.
I can't go home,
And I know why-
My crimes have grown.
From place to place,
Can't show my face.
I am alone.
I feel no shame.
I have no remorse.
I feel no pain.
You will never know
That it was me-
I did not know him.
I'm burning now,
I don't know how
To stop this feeling.
A weight was lifted.
I am gifted.
I am strong.
I got away,
And to this day,
I did no wrong.
He did no harm,
But I shot him down.
I shot again, and again,
And again.
Too much to take
For goodness sake.
Can't go much further.
Been up all night
In my own fright.
I feel like murder.
I feel like murder.
I feel like murder.
