A crazy X, temp work and the woes of capitalism... or something equally as angsty.

    Story Behind the Song
I wanted to write a song to get over an X and managed to be inspired to write by a bunch of fellow temp workers who are all unapologetic actresses in NYC. One of my favorites to play live.

    Lyrics
Standing close enough on the subway
I can feel you I can smell your body heat
Why do I need the polemics of convention
When I eroticize each and every dimension

    And you disregard cardboard boxes
As if no one ever claimed them as home
And the leather bags are stacked until the floor sags
And I only know, capitalism, it never atones

So a bunch of theatrics marked temporal space
Yet didn't we gasp at its flaming gracelessness
I tasted your features and your creases to confirm
That you called out my gendered and choked courier

    And you terrified me
Distracted I was falling weak at the reams
And your lies had turned linear
    Having meshed freedom with screams

But where was I at the time
Where was I at the time
Where was I at the time

    CHORUS

And when you hardware was placed back
    Intensified ducking down
I ran for the sake of running to taste tact
    But fearing too much tact

    I left early morning
And your lies had turned horizontal having
    Meshed freedom with screams
But where was I at the time

    CHORUS
