Story Behind the Song
The bones of the song were first put together during the rather unforgettable spring of 1997 - less than one year after the formation of the experimental-comedy band Trunkdog. During Trunkdog's legendary Briarwood Avenue Tour, "Have You Seen My Dog" became an overnight success, elevating both Paul and Derek to the levels of fame experienced by most people throughout the world.
However it wasn't until some five years later that "Have You Seen My Dog" was recorded at the site of the now "White Ravens Studio". The rare and seldom heard recording, which was considered by the authors to be unrefined owing to the amount of shouting in the song, was not publicly distributed.
The released version of the song (recorded in a staggering 11,342 takes) was the fruit of Trunkdog's most recent session in the studio last Friday.

I knew I should have trained to be a vet.
There's something I quite fancy about that.
My practice would be known for miles around
And one day I might even find my hound.

Have you seen my dog, HYSMD, he's got two gums and a snout
HYSMD, HYSMD, I think he's been let out.
HYSMD, HYSMD, he's got two gums and a snout
HYSMD, HYSMD, HYSMD, HYSMD, HYSMD, HYSMD.

I got myself a trumpeting hog,
But it doesn't do the things a dog should do.
