The "Raga:, a most important part of Indian music, modernized and modified contextually into the urban musical landscape of New York. The Hindi/Urdu word "rag" is derived from the Sanskrit "raga" which means "color or passion". This piece attempts to illustrate the musical "coloring" that the Indian-American musicians of NY have brought to the urban musical landscape. A mix of traditional and modern instrumentation, and a contemporary arrangement, bringing the ancient forward to the present in a form accessable to all. Written for film score use, perfect for work illustrating urban cross cultural themes. | MP3.com CD: Urban Musicology 192k Remix - buy it!

Story Behind the Song
I have had the good fortune to have had friends and colleagues through the years who have brought me closer to a musical form which I have grown very fond of. I find the influences everywhere, and this is just one illustration of the "melting pot" of musical forms in today's urban culture.
